Corona del Mar

Leslie Daigle

Deputy Chairwoman of Corona del Mar

Leslie Daigle

Council Member Daigle began representing Newport Beach in September of 2004.  Councilmember Daigle is working with her City Council colleagues on efforts to benefit the people of Newport Beach including the recent approval of the Back Bay Science Center which will provide for improved water quality testing, the implementation of underground utility districts to enhance safety and aesthetics, and improvements to increase traffic flow.

Councilwoman Daigle spearheaded the first annual Orange County Conference for Women.  Sponsors included Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian and attendees learned more about women's health and other issues.  The keynote speaker was Libby Pataki, First Lady of New York.  Due to Leslie's knowledge of technology gained from her professional activity in the mobile telephone industry during the past twelve years, Council Member Daigle initiated the addition of video streaming to the city's web site to expand public access and better organize and deliver information.  She previously served on the Newport Beach Planning Commission and is a member of the Urban Land Institute.  Council Member Daigle chairs the Media Communications Committee and Newport Beach/Irvine Borders Committee.   She is a member of the Finance Committee, the General Plan Update Committee and Newport Beach/Costa Mesa Borders Committee.

Leslie is a graduate of the University of Denver and the Denmark International Study program at the University of Copenhagen.

Brief History

Until the late 1920s, Corona del Mar was a tiny village, reached from the peninsula by small boat at high tide, or by a muddy dirt road that crossed over the Irvine Ranch. Today, Corona del Mar offers many landmark places to visit, as well as some of the most trendy shops and restaurants.  (Previous information from Orange County.net)
