Allan Mansoor

Deputy Chairman of Costa Mesa

Allan Mansoor

Allan R. Mansoor was elected to the City Council on November 5, 2002. Allan was appointed Mayor by the City Council on January 3, 2005.

Allan moved to Costa Mesa in 1976 and has lived here most of his life. He attended junior high school at Christ Lutheran on Victoria Street and graduated from Estancia High School, where he participated in wrestling and track and field. Allan worked at Orange Coast College as a Campus Safety Officer while studying there and later obtained an Associates Degree from Coastline Community College.

In 1993 Allan was hired by the Orange County Sheriff’s Department and was assigned to the Men’s Central Jail. Other assignments have included John Wayne Airport, the Sex Offender Notification And Registration (SONAR) Division and patrol in Dana Point and North Operations (includes the unincorporated areas from Santa Ana Heights to Sunset Beach and the unincorporated parts of North Orange County). This experience gave him a good perspective on crime related issues in and around Costa Mesa.

Allan is a resident of Costa Mesa and is a City Council liaison to the following committees: Costa Mesa Community Foundation, Investment Oversight, and Redevelopment & Residential Rehabilitation (3R).

During his term as Mayor his focus has been on getting back to the basics of good city government by focusing on fiscal responsibility, infrastructure repair and public safety. He supported a Residential Remodeling Incentive Program that eliminated fees and allowed citizens to bring their homes up to code without penalty, opposed eminent domain, and supported an overlay zone to encourage free market revitalization in needed areas.

Allan Mansoor believes in lower taxes, balanced budgets and putting parents and families first.

Brief History

At first no more than a way station built by Spanish missionaries for cattle herders, the city developed, as others did from the ashes of a failed land-development boom in the 1880's. Later it was to become an agricultural center, known for both apples and lima beans that in turn gave way to residential and commercial development. Today, the city is a focal point in the county, with the Orange County Performing Arts Center, South Coast Repertory Theater and the South Coast Plaza regional shopping mall and numerous nearby office buildings.(Previous information from Orange County.net)
