Having grown up in Orange County, Carolyn and her husband Rick chose Orange as the community to purchase their first home and start a family. Now long-term residents with three children, they couldn't think of a better place to call home. Carolyn loves the "small-town" feel of Orange and is dedicated to preserving the high quality of life we enjoy here.

A graduate of California State University, Long Beach with a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology, Carolyn first became active in Orange City government when she asked City Hall to pass an ordinance restricting the display of "Matter Harmful to Minors" in local stores. That led to an appointment on the city's Community Video Advisory Board.

She continued to work for the families of Orange on library issues, serving 7 years on the Orange Public Library Board of Trustees. Carolyn is a graduate of Leadership Orange and the Orange Citizens Police Academy. She served on the Board of Directors for the Friends of the Orange Public Library, as a local coordinator and speaker for "MOPS", and as the People Columnist for the Orange City News.

Carolyn was first elected to the Orange City Council in June 2001. Re-elected in November 2002, she was selected Mayor pro tem in 2003. Carolyn ran for office because she felt families needed better representation at City Hall. She has been an advocate for parks, libraries and increased public safety. Since being elected, Carolyn has developed a strong interest in infrastructure and public works needs. She currently serves as Vice-Chairman of the Orange County Transportation Authority, and represents the City of Orange on the Orange County Sanitation District and on the Santa Ana River Flood Protection Agency. Carolyn has served on the City of Orange-OUSD City/Schools Committee, and the Orange County Emergency Medical Care Committee.  Mayor pro tem Cavecche believes government's core mission is to provide strong public safety and meet the community's infrastructure needs in a fiscally sound manner, always being responsible to the taxpayer.

The Cavecche family is active in the Boy Scouts of America, youth sports and at their church.
